Honeyboy Edwards Concert

Duffs Garage Bar & Grill, 1635 SE 7th Av., Portland, Oregon

David “Honeyboy” Edwards, the last of the original legendary Delta blues performers makes a rare club appearance in Portland. Born in 1915, he has played alongside or worked with just about every major blues artist you can think of, including being considered the sole remaining link to Robert Johnson. His first recordings occurred in 1942 when Alan Lomax came to the Delta for the Library of Congress and laid down fifteen solo tracks with the guitarist and he has been captured on disc every decade since. His latest recording titled Roamin’ and Ramblin’ (Earwig Records) finds Honeyboy working alongside master harp players like Bobby Rush, Sugar Blue, Billy Branch, Big Walter Horton and his longtime road companion Michael Frank  And there have been many honors bestowed upon him, including the Blues Hall of Fame, a Lifetime Achievement from the Grammy Awards and a National Endowment of the Arts National Heritage Fellowship Award that recognizes Honeyboy Edwards as a National Treasure! Don’t be fooled by his age, at 95 years young Honeyboy is still a splendid guitarist and can relate stories both in song and in person detailing his lengthy career. If you consider yourself a blues aficionado, this is one show you should not miss for anything. Honeyboy and Michael will be accompanied by guitarist/ bassist Jerry Zybach
